Review: The Revenger Squad

The Revenger Squad

Director: Bb. Joyce Bernal

Starring: Vice Ganda, Daniel Padilla, and Pia Wurtzbach

Genre: Comedy, Action, Fantasy

The Revenger Squad tackles the story of Emy aka Gandarra(Vice Ganda), a superhero who had an amnesia after battling with Madman and was turned into a seamstress by his friends to keep him and his adopted brother Chino safe from Min, but little they know that Chino (Daniel Padilla) was already aware that he had powers and was using it under the superhero name Rapiddo.

With Chino discovering his powers, it lead the way for Kweenie/Cassy(Pia Wurtzbach) to discover who she could use to keep her and Mino's power strong. Gandarra wasn't aware that Kweenie was her long lost sister and that became one big disadvantage for him as Kweenie was able to lure Chino going the way of Mino. Will Gandarra saved the world again along with Chino and Kweenie? or will Mino's power defeat them?
_________________________________________

Okay first of all I would like to say that this review will be based on my own experience while watching the movie, nothing will be technical nor academic.

I got three points to say about the movie and here it goes.

First, The Revenger Squad is far more better than The Super Parental Guardians last year, there are elements from last year that was toned down here and made it even better like the Action scenes I love how they made it less violent this year unlike last year where I find it a bit awkward that they are selling it to the kids yet it was too violent, TRS changed it and made itself a Family oriented one.

Second, if you are expecting an award winning movie this movie is not for you, but if you just want to unwind, distress, and be happy this movie is for you. I myself couldn't help not to laugh specially in the scene where Peppa and friends needs to bring all of Emy's memory back that was super funny and well I guess the whole cinema and alot of you will agree to me.

Third, though I said it was a far more better movie, this movie lacked in story details, from why are they superheroes, where did they come from, where did their powers came from, I mean there are lots of questions that popped out while I was watching it.
_____________

On the acting department Vice Ganda delivered the most hilarious antics in this movie, though we regularly see it on TV the attack on the big screen was way different and I like his "no acting" acting in certain scenes.

Daniel Padilla shows that he can stand alone without a love team in this movie, The Revenger Squad brought out what other things he can do as an actor without a love team it's like Daniel Padilla unfiltered.

Well I guess I have to say this for Pia Wurtzbach, she should've been Darna! Seriously with all the action stunts she did in this movie, the fierceness of her aura and her overall look, she is the perfect example of a Pinay Superhero.

And Lastly, I really love the trio of MC, Lassy, and Kiray with Karla Estrada, they left a mark on me with that scene where they need to bring back the memory of Gandarra was really hilarious leaving me laughing out loud inside the cinema.

 _____________

Over all the movie is for those again looking for some breather from all the stress and hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it will give you a good laugh, it will distress you, don't expect too much about the story and viola your 300 will be worthy.

If I will give a rating for this as a movie it will an 7 or 8, but the laughter that it will give you is more than 10 out of 10!

Review: Ang Panday (2017)

Ang Panday (2017)

Director: Rodel Nacianceno

Starring: Coco Martin

Genre: Action, Fantasy

Ang Panday tells the story of the third generation Panday also named Flavio (Coco Martin) and his quest to get the "Balaraw" and use it against the growing forces of Lizardo and his "Aswang" army.

Basically that's the story of Ang Panday this year is, okay going to the details of the movie I got three points.

First, the story was okay it was a mix of fantasy, action, suspense, horror, and comedy it is an all in one movie for the whole family, but there are scenes that I find a bit violent for the younger audiences though all in all it was a fun and very long movie at two hours.

Second, this will be a bit negative coz when I watched the movie I felt really tired after, why? because there were lots of unnecessary scenes in the movie that made it long and tiring and then there were scenes that I felt lacked in detail specially in Flavio's quest to get the sword.

Third, the special effects, hands down the movie is really visually entertaining and the graphics and visuals used were really good and pleasing to the eye (kids will love it). Also adding to the effects is the set design and props that were really good that it adds up to the top notch quality of the movie.

On the acting department, hands down Coco Martin was really good he is always been a good actor in all genre I must say.

The fight scenes were superb, well choreograph and very realistic in a way that it was too violent for me in my opinion.

Another one who stood out in that all star and powerhouse cast is Awra Briguela, the young star proved he can be a good actor after delivering his character in the movie very well.

I would also like to add that Coco Martin and Kylie Verzosa got a good onscreen chemistry rather than Mariel.

Overall Ang Panday is worth watching this MMFF 2017, you will enjoy it is a complete package movie full of action and fantasy with a bit of drama, horror, suspense, and comedy for the whole family.

Rating: 8/10

Is it Meant To Beh for Bossing Vic Sotto?

Last years' rigid changes in the selection process of the Metro Manila Film Festival affected the regular fixture in the movie line up of the festival and that change didn't exclude Vic Sotto from missing last year's MMFF with his entry "Enteng Kabisote 10 and The Abangers".

Luckily this year Bossing Vic is back in the Metro Manila Film Festival via the movie "Meant To Beh" co starring Dawn Zulueta, this is their reunion movie after quite sometime and this is their first MMFF together.

Read The Synopsis and Watch The Trailer of Meant To Beh Here

But what has change with Bossing's MMFF 2017 entry far different from his past movies? "This is the first time for me doing a serious ang tema, we present it in a very light manner well that's something new for me and I hope people will like it" bossing replied. "Baka nasanay sila na puro espadahan ang ginagawa natin, I just wanted to try something different" he added.

Last year's entry of Vic Sotto was a fantasy comedy again that didn't work well in the taste of the jury and as well as the audiences as it went low on sales when it was released November 30 and was pitted against Vice Ganda and Coco Martin's The Super Parental Guardians who raked up the box office leaving them behind.

When asked how was it facing the two actors again for the third time in this year's festival bossing says "We're working for the same industry so I hope we share the same ideals, na let's make it happen let's make it a better place for everyone", "Para sa akin wala ng mga kumpe kumpetisyon, maybe a friendly competition"  he added.

In 2015, Bossing Vic Sotto's movie with Aiai Delas Alas entitled "My Bebe Luv" had a neck and neck battle in the box office against Vice Ganda and Coco Martin's "Beauty & the Bestie" and because of that strong words and accusations were thrown at each other.

Bossing Vic Sotto also answered if he still feels nervous about the Box Office success of the movie he just answered "Yung kaba factor hindi na mawawala yun", "I've never been an over confident guy for that matter" he adds up. This year Vic Sotto just want for his viewer to be satisfied and be happy with his movie offering.

2017 was a wonderful year for the 63 year old actor and host after he got married to Pauleen Luna last January and now he is a new father again to their daughter Baby Talitha Maria who was born last November 6.

Bossing Vic shared that it feels good to be a father again after a long time, "Naranasan mo ulit yung mapuyat ka sa madaling araw lalo na kapagka new born every 1 or 2 hours nanghihingi na ng milk yun eh" he happily shared.

Meant To Beh is considered as one of the bucket list project of  Vic Sotto as he really wanted to do a serious family movie since most of his movies are fantasy family movie like the Enteng Kabisote series, this time he wants to make it a serious one and with a statement to leave to the families that will be watching the movie this Christmas day.
